First Night is a family-oriented News Year's Eve celebration of the arts. Activities take place from mid-afternoon to midnight on December 31, 2007, at many locations in downtown Springfield. First Night Springfield features the very best in theatre, dance, music, visual arts, film and more.

2008 Poster Contest
CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Springfield Area Arts Council announces a call for entries for a poster design contest to promote this year's 21st Annual First Night Springfield.

  • One entry per peson.

  • Artists should submit 2-dimensional original artwork in a vertical or horizontal format not to exceed 11 by 17 inches.

  • Designs should reflect the theme, "New Year's Eve Celebration of the Arts."

  • The winning design will be selected by the First Night Planning Committee, which is made up of Arts Council board members and community representatives.

  • The winner will receive a prize of $100.

  • The winning design will be unveiled at a future press conference. It becomes the property of the Arts Council and will be reprinted on a variety of First Night promotional materials.

  • The deadline for submitting artwork is 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007.

Interested artists are welcome to view the full collection of previous First Night posters on display at the SAAC office at 421 S. Sixth Street, Springfield, during office hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
